About Us

PIONEERING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN NURSING

The AI Nurses Network is a clinical research network designed to support and advance the role of nurses in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). It comprises an interdisciplinary team of nurses and AI experts, with a core team based in the United Kingdom and a network of country directors worldwide along with an independent advisory board that offers ongoing advice and support.

The AI Nurses Network is led by Dr Siobhan O'Connor and is supported by a core team who have expertise in nursing and artificial intelligence in collaboration with a patient representative and international advisory board. A group of country directors are also in place worldwide to promote the network's training and educational resources, seed funding and scholarships, and news and events that supports nurses in developing and applying AI techniques, models and tools in their professional practice to improve patient care and population health.

Dr Siobhán O'Connor

Dr Siobhán O'Connor is the Global Director of the AI Nurses Network and a Senior Lecturer at King’s College London, with a multidisciplinary background in nursing and informatics. She conducts AI research in nursing and leads the AI Nurses Network in the UK and internationally.

Professor Rebecca Oakey

Dr Joanne Cull

Dr Crina Crosan is a Senior Lecturer at King’s College London who researches artificial intelligence in healthcare. She supports the AI Nurses Network by facilitating seed funding and networking events.

Professor Rebecca Oakey is a Professor of Epigenetics and Dean of Doctoral Studies at King’s College London. She leads King’s Innovation Scholars Programme and supports the provision of AI education and training in the AI Nurses Network.

Dr Joanne Cull the Head of Nursing for Nurse and Midwife Led Research at ACORN (A Centre of Research for Nurses and Midwives) at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and seconded to London South Bank University as Associate Professor. She supports the AI Nurses Network by facilitating seed funding and networking events.

Dr Mengying Zhang

Dr Mengying Zhang is a Research Associate at King's College London with a multidisciplinary background in both nursing and finance. She supports the AI Nurses Network through facilitating dissemination activities and events.

Dr Xiaoyang Li

Dr Xiaoyang Li is a Research Assistant at King's College London with a background in nursing. She supports the AI Nurses Network through facilitating dissemination activities and events.

Dr Nathan Blake

Dr Nathan Blake worked clinically as a nurse in emergency care before completing his PhD in computational biology and he now researches explainable AI in healthcare. He supports the AI Nurses Network by facilitating the dissemination and networking events.
